Who is Oya?
I am asked this question regularly! Oya is a West African
Goddess - the Goddess of Change and Transformation. Being the
Wind Goddess, she dances in stormy spirals,
sweeping away the old in order to prepare for
the new. She teaches us about determination,
having a sense of purpose, and hard work. Using her machete, or sword of truth, she
cuts through stagnation and clears the way for
growth. She does what needs to be done.

am a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach, as well as a Family
Physician, formerly
in private practice. This honed my skills of assessment, conflict resolution, and enhancing
communication. I have been a successful business
executive, having been CEO of UCLA-Santa Monica
Medical Center, and Executive VP of business units in two start-up
Internet companies, before establishing my coaching
business. As a result, I understand the
opportunities and the obstacles faced by my
corporate and individual clients.

Having undergone significant
metamorphoses in my own life, I know the
challenges of change. Like my clients, I long to

meaningful career and life, with as few regrets as

My strengths are my outstanding listening and
communication abilities, my broad perspective,
my extensive experience both professionally and
personally, and my contagious enthusiasm that
invokes my clients' determination to succeed.
I created The Vision Realization ProcessTM to
facilitate meaningful growth and transformation,
so that seemingly unattainable goals can be
achieved, with our
partnership and my encouragement.
My Experience
I have been trained and certified as an Executive and Personal
Coach through the Coaches Training Institute in
San Rafael, CA.
I am a Board-Certified Family Physician with a
cum laude MD degree from South Africa and
subsequent residency training at UCLA-Santa
Monica Medical Center. I was formerly in private
medical practices in rural Zimbabwe for three
years and in Santa Monica, California, for nine
years.
I
am a former CEO of UCLA-Santa Monica Medical
Center, and Executive VP of business units in two start-up
Internet companies.
I received my Masters in Public Health (MPH), in
Health Services Management from UCLA in 1997.
I am also a spouse, a mother, a daughter and a sister,
and I live in Los Angeles, contentedly, and constantly in pursuit of my own vision of
a well-lived life!
